Southern Living's Idea House - 7/6/2006

MOTION-SENSITIVE LIGHTING CONTROLLED BY STYLISH SWITCHES
AMONG THE LATEST HOME TRENDS UNVEILED AT SOUTHERN LIVING’S
TALLAHASSEE IDEA HOUSE

PALATINE, Ill. – June 6, 2006 – Imagine a home where the kitchen lights automatically turn on as you carry in groceries, or where the lighting levels in every room can simultaneously switch from a romantic low-light setting to a bright, festive party atmosphere at one touch of a button.  These are among the latest in whole-house automation trends available from the Square D Clipsal range on display at the Southern Living Tallahassee Idea House.

Available to Orlando and Tampa-area homes starting in mid-2006, Square D Clipsal lighting control products help build homes that accommodate life’s demands with all the luxury, convenience and safety the latest technology provides.

Some of the latest trends in whole house automation to experience in the Tallahassee Idea House include:

Dynamic Label Technology Keypads (Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room)
The innovative Square D Clipsal DLT™ keypad, an industry first, allows the master of the house to pre-program up to eight lighting functions for key household events, such as family movie night or a dinner party. The DLT keypad features an LCD display so that each button displays editable text or graphics to indicate the room or custom lighting scene it controls. The result: No need to guess which button to press. The wall-mounted keypads feature five buttons – four that are programmable, with a fifth serving as a scroll button to toggle between two screens. Independent timers are built into each button. Available in a clear glass or faux metal finish.

DLT keyplates are located in key rooms of the Idea House where residents prefer a combination of on-off/dimmers switches and select combination light scenes.

Passive Infrared Detector (PIR) Movement Sensors
(Garage Approach, Hallways, Pantry, Powder Room, Laundry Room)
Hands too full to reach the light switch? No problem, thanks to the Square D Clipsal Passive Infrared Detector (PIR) Movement Sensors. They help turn the lights on and off when you can’t, such as when carrying in groceries or loads of laundry. Activating lights is as simple as walking into a room because PIRs detect natural thermal radiation from bodies in motion. The sensors also help save energy by automatically turning lights off when the last person leaves.

Saturn Keypads (Bedrooms)
Throw out the old light switches and install these keypads that not only stand up to your home’s best artwork, but are functional too. Bedrooms in the Idea House feature the Square D Clipsal Saturn keypads with transparent glass cover plates and brushed sliver push buttons. Each push button is programmed to separately control functions such as room lighting (dimmer), the ceiling fan (on/off) and the robe light (on/off). The fourth button in each keypad’s lower right-hand corner will turn off all of the preceding lights and fans with one touch.

Look for a total of 17 Saturn™ keypads throughout the Idea House. They provide a stylish, modern alternative to the standard look of common electrical wall switches, and are available in four colors (white, black, mocha and cream) to complement any room. Keypads are also available in the rectangular Neo™ style, which are designed with architecturally inspired straight edges with a gentle curved face. Available in a wide range of colors and combinations.

These and other Square D Clipsal residential lighting control products will be available beginning mid-2006 in the Orlando and Tampa, Fla., markets, with subsequent expansion to other U.S. markets.
