Logistics
Logistics centers are large open areas with significant amounts of lighting, especially where sorting functions take place. Lighting control systems can cut energy consumption significantly by optimizing light levels for the activity that is occurring.
In any warehouse space, schedule or occupancy based lighting control can insure that power is not consumed by lighting after hours. An extremely effective technique in sorting centers is to connect a Powerlink system to the control logic of a sorting conveyer line. The Powerlink controller is set up to only turn on the lighting for a line that is running. This provides for considerable savings compared to older processes that encouraged all lights to be on in a facility when any line was operating.
